This is the finest, rawest, brightest, exciting, and truly ‘Rock And Roll’ live album you will ever ever hear, bar none.

With the cheers from the crowd, and the totally ‘live’ sounds from Daltrey dropping the microphone to Entwistle’s precisional melodic bass, to Moon’s manic, yet unbelievably well-timed drumming to Townsend’s climactic creation of feedback, when listening in your front room on the couch, you will feel as if you’re actually there at Elland Road in the pouring rain with nothing but alcohol, a damp Fishtail Parka, and Maximum R&B to keep you going.

In fact, it would be hard not to expect to turn around and find a long-haired stonewashed denim-clad maturing hippy urinating against the back of your sofa with a reefer hanging out of his mouth, after experiencing The Who’s unique and mind-blowing rendition of the best bits from Tommy, mumbling ‘wow, man they’re out of this world’, before collapsing over you whilst zipping up.

Every song from ‘My Generation’ to ‘Magic Bus’ is filled with ‘live’ nuances and special twists, never heard before or after. The clean, crisp sound must have been a total fluke when recorded, and now with digital remastering and without the familiar, but somewhat annoying crackle of vinyl, it sounds even better.

None of the other Who Live recordings have a chance at equalling the performance at Leeds, even though they are all quite magnificent in their own rights.

It was the right time and the right place to record ‘Live At Leeds’. A one-in-a-million lucky strike, which makes it the definitive Live Album – the album every group or artist only dreams of creating.

If you don’t buy it, you might as well just ffffffffffffade away…………..
